Fall & Winter Bedding Favorites

Last week we polled the audience and you all had amazing things you like to do for your guests. From care packages next to the bed, to using your credit card points to book them a local hotel (this was hilarious). For us - we like to go the extra mile with quality bedding - so today we thought we would list all of our recent Garnet Hill bedding selections.

// Disclaimer: We are Garnet Hill Partners and genuinely love their product. We have worked with them many times in the past and when they asked us back this year it was an immediate YES.

Flannel

Starting with flannel sheets makes the most sense. The comfort of flannel is unparalleled especially when it is high quality. Flannel is very much a “you get what you pay for” type of product and a good set of sheets can last you a very very long time. Last year we shared our flannel sheets and many people responded saying that they have had their Garnet Hill sheets for well over a decade and they are still going strong.

We happen to think that a high quality sheet set makes the BEST GIFT too. It’s such an obvious choice during the holidays - especially for those hard to buy for people on your list. Last year we gave bedding to our parents and David’s sister, and they loved them (way better than new socks).

Duvets & Duvet CoverS

There is nothing cozier in this world than a fluffy duvet. We selected medium down-alternative duvets because they can be used all year here in Maine, and in the cold seasons we add a wool blanket for more warmth. We do not have a strong preference for down vs down-alternative so that decision is up to you!

For duvet covers we prefer linen because it has a relaxed look that doesn’t attract too much dog hair, and it’s really easy to wash. We also love linen because it’s perfect in every season.

Fun Fact: We both grew up with “comforters” and didn’t learn about duvets until later in life (weirdly). After years of duvet use, we have fully converted.

Pillows

Pillows are where things really come together - there is nothing worse than staying the night somewhere and having a terrible pillow. We selected down-alternative here as well and made sure that each person has one firm and one medium option (4 pillows per bed). Garnet Hill offers three different levels of pillow firmness, making it really convenient to shop!

RUGS

Rugs are really one of those things that can run the gamut in terms of quality - and often you never really know what you’re going to get until it shows up. That is not the case with any rug we have ever received from Garnet Hill. We selected the Treviso Hand-Tufted Wool Rug for the Green Room and the Jordan Hand-Knotted Wool Rug for the Plaid room. The Treviso is something we used before, and love it so much we wanted to use it again. Needless to say - you can’t really go wrong here.
